Jeddito Black-on-orange was initially defined by Lyndon Hargrave in 1932, and expanded upon by both Hargrave and Harold Colton in 1937. This type is primarily found in the U.S. Southwest (specifically, Arizona) and is known to be produced within the period of 1200 CE to 1350 CE. It is common for these pottery remains to be unearthed within the Jeddito, Polacca, and Oraibi drainages, in addition to Little Colorado River near Winslow, Arizona and Clear Creek, Navajo County, Arizona.
