General Information

Early examples generally have a lighter color of blue than that of late examples. Although Yayal Blue on White existed during the early seventeenth century it appears to have reached a peak of popularity around 1550.

Description

Light cream to buff paste color, with a soft, chalky, spongy clay texture. Concentric blue bands encircle the interior of the vessel. Occasionally a crude central medallion design is based on a palmette, parallel crisscrossed lines, and inscriptions.
