The Papys Bayou Plain type is a Late Woodland pottery type from the Central Gulf Coast and Manatee regions. The type possesses similarities to the Biscayne or St. Johns ware. According to Willey 1949:442, the type is "temperless" and contains fingernail scratches.

Definition as a type: Central Gulf Coast and Manatee regions


Ware characteristics: Indistinguishable from the soft gry or buff Biscayne or St. Johns ware. It is temperless, scratches with fingernail, and is 7 to 8 mm. thick. Surfaces usually polished.
