The Papys Bayou Incised type is a Late Woodland pottery type from the Central Gulf Coast and Manatee regions. The type shares the same definition, ware characteristics, geographical range, and chronological position as Papys Bayou Plain. According to Willey 1949:443, the type "tends to utilize fine-line incision."

Definition as a type: Central Gulf Coast and Manatee regions


Ware characteristics: Indistinguishable from the soft gry or buff Biscayne or St. Johns ware. It is temperless, scratches with fingernail, and is 7 to 8 mm. thick. Surfaces usually polished.
