General Information

Ligurian Blue on White differs from its companion type, Ligurian Blue on Blue, only in the color of the background enamel. Lister and Lister (1982: 74) speculated that the type may actually be Ligurian Blue on Blue, on which the background color was weakened to near-white during firing.

This description of Ligurian Blue on White comes from the Historical Archaeology Digital Ceramic Type Collection maintained by the Florida Museum of Natural History.
